November Minutes 2016- Church Council

Old Business:

  • Kraig Sutherland motioned to approve October 2016 minutes as submitted. Janet Laut seconded and the motion passed.

  • Pastor Foss gave devotion on John 13. Jesus loves us so deeply the disciples did not know who the betrayer was.

  • Pastor Report – Transition Committee from the care process to figure out where we are going and then the call process.

  • Treasures Report given by Greg Stover. Numbers look positive. Financial Statements attached.

  • Going Beyond Capital Campaign - $200,000 in initial pledges from 28 families. Campaign has been a success and worth the expense. Campaign recap will take place the weekend of December 10-11.

New Business:

  • 1. Constitutional Amendment Ballot must be submitted by March 15, 2017
    2. Trinity Park Hills is installing their new pastor on Dec 4 at 3pm. Invited all from St Paul to attend.

  • Elders Report given by Pastor. Midweek services 4 weeks of Advent. Dinner at 5:30 and service at 6:30. Christmas Eve services at 7pm and 10pm. Christmas morning at 9am.

  • Christian Studies Report was given by Heather Kurtz. Gave a recap on Rural and Small Church Mission Conference. Advised of Children’s Christmas program and gifts from board.

  • Christian Outreach Report given by Janet Laut. 22 families received Thanksgiving Baskets. Used 3 $250 Action Grants from Thrivent to assist the food drive. To encourage fellowship, coffee and donuts will be served prior to 9am church service each week.

  • Christian Life Report given by Joann Henderson. Memorial Service went well, 60 people came to the LL for a brunch following. There was lots of visiting.
    Plan for a Thanksgiving Service November 23, and Advent By Candlelight on November 27.
    Advent midweek services “The Journey”.

  • Christian Education Report submitted by Sally Shinn. Board is working on updating policies and accreditation. Mr. Murray is working on school calendar for next school year already. Veterans Day Breakfast was a huge success and involved many from the community. Students are working on Red Ribbon Week, Canned Food Drive, Thanksgiving Feast, and Christmas Concerts.

  • Next council meeting will be on December 20 following the Board meeting.

  • Meeting adjourned with the Lord’s Prayer
