June Minutes 2016- Church Council

Old Business:

  • Council Minute were submitted & excepted

  • Pastor Report: Pastor Foss is working behind the scenes in various areas. there is a new member class that will confirm in July. Summer slump,even though attendance is down, finances are positive.

  • Principal report giving by Mr. G. enrollment sits at 290 for next year ( finished last year school year at 307) Tuition is till coming in for last year,tuition projection for next year are conservative.
    Teacher salaries are low. Proposed to give St Paul Lutheran High School employees a discount on grade school tuition. Discount for part time $1000 & Full time $2000 and discount for full time employee at St. Paul Elementary school.

  • Treasurers Report given by Greg Stover . Reviewed financial Statement. we got a $25,000 shot in the arm in the form of a special gift from a congregational member.

  • Heather Kurtz was able to raise enough money for the Rural Area Conference. Her registration is paid for.

New Business:

  • 1. Capital Campaign Coordinator- Looking for 2 co-coordinators.
    2. Ice Cream Social - July 9 at 5pm in the commons.
    3. Military Video- To run at all services July 2-3. Christian Life, Darlene McWilliams is checking with Ken Kelly.
    4. Christian Studies has a need for superintendent, teachers and student in Sunday School.

  • Scott Lix gave elders report . Board has concerns about LGBT issue, same sex marriage and building uses. Music program is being addressed by Pastor Rick. he is coordination different groups. There will be an Elders retreat in the fall locally.

  • Heather Kurtz gave Christian Studies report VBS is July 31-Aug 4. Appreciative of all donations.

  • Outreach report was given by Greg Shinn. Oktoberfest benefiting the School Foundation on Sept. 17, 2016 will learning on Christian Life Board.

  • Christian Life report - Joann Henderson. Stand ready to help with Capital Campaign and Oktoberfest Looking forward to the big dates:

  • Education- Sally Shinn offering Dustin Merray, total expense is 72,584. motioned to support the decision to hire Mr. Murray
