August Minutes 2016- Church Council

Old Business:

  • Pastor Report: Busy with the campaign. Meeting with all the boards.

  • Principal Report . Current enrollment is 302. Looking at security issues. End of day pick up has been changed for safety sake. First day of school was last week and all went well. Pastor suggested establishing a special fund for safety fund donations and beefing up the attendance policy.

  • Treasurer report. Current on bills. Building account has enough for August.

  • Going Beyond Capital Campaign project reported on by Jason Garner. Co- Director are Cindy Boarders and Steve Thomas. First leadership training held 8/21/16.
    Imagine Weekend message " Are you ready to RSVP"? delivered by Rev. John Sproul.
    Goal of Campaign is to increase faith. Team is mindful of expense like postage.
    Inform meetings will be the next step.

  • Oktoberfest report by Jason Garner using notes from Greg Shinn. Country Store needs 20 tables set up. Quilt Show is being set up in church. Principal Murray will be taking a pie in the face. Flyer from triple c went home about wristbands and event info. Flyers about Car Show being distributed. Flyers about event are being hung up around community. Advertising on the radio with Mark Toti. Looking for volunteers.

  • Praise Worship Music at 445 service. Pastor Foss reported that we are using purchased music. It is inexpensive and familiar to the crowd. It is working well and will
    continue as is. need more volunteers to run computer. Will however have live music for Oktoberfest.

New Business:

  • Going Beyond Inform Phase now begins.Next payment on campaign is due Oct.4, $7800. Remaining $1100 in stewardship budget going toward Celebrations and meals during the campaign.

  • Times of Church Services- Elders received a letter from Board of Christian Studies to move 4:45 to Sunday morning. Elders concluded to wait till after campaign as it needs to be a congregational decision. Sally Shinn advised caution here as a vote was already taken and was negative to making a move. There are no other option to Sunday School for Saturday evening church. Pastor agreed to the wait as it should be consensus building not an alienation of members.

  • New Sunday School Superintendent. Mark Jones was put forth by Christian Studies and Elders for approval.

  • Voters Meeting in the works for Sept. 11. On the Agenda is A RIF policy,
    Kenny Allen on the School Board.
    Promote Oktoberfest

  • Christian Studies report- JR High Bible study to start 9/11 during Sunday School time. Spaghetti dinner to raises the last funds for the Rural Church Convention.

  • Outreach Report - Working hard on Oktoberfest

  • Christian Life - Organizing Country Store as part of Oktoberfest. Need donations ASAP.
    Baked goods requested early the morning of the 17th.
    Extended an invitation to all to Sunday School with breakfast following church every week. Memorial Service in November.

  • Trustees Projects include new mulch, painting,picking up sticks. Ceth Jordan will be the school custodians 5am - 1pm.
    Come on down and enjoy fresh air when it snows at 6pm.

  • Education Since the board is fairly "new" they would like to re-enlist Kenny Allen as a member.
