October Minutes 2015- Church Council

Circuit Vistor Charles Henrickson.Pastor Engle, Jerry Hoeflein


Old Business:

  • Henrickson gave his contact information. 314.779.8108 henricksonc@yahoo.com.
    -Current status is that Pastor Engle is Temporary Vacancy Pastor. He will make sure that pulpit is supplied, handle emergencies, do shut-in visits and Saturday services through November. He has been working with Jamie on setting up the services and everything is going well. All Saints Service will be as we are used to.
    -Thanksgiving Eve Service at 7pm at Trinity. Thanksgiving Day Service at 9am at Bonne Terre. We are welcome to attend either of those.
    -Henrickson is doing the Advent Mid Week in Bonne Terre at 4pm. Would be willing to supply pulpit.
    -Discussion on how these fill in pastors are to be compensated. Referred to Synod guidelines. MO.LCMS.ORG resources, finance, 2015-2016 compensation guidelines.
    -Vacancy pastor compensation is agreed upon as more of a salary encompassing desired services.
    -9am Advent Chapel Service will be handled by school staff and moved to 8:15am

  • Elders Report given by Scott Lix. Membership changes: 10 baptisms in the last month, 6 adult comfirmands, David Jones II and Lori and Keith Flenner transferred out. Total membership stands at 1195. Average attendance is 268.

  • Principals Report given by Mr G. Enrollment is 308 K-8. Several baptisms during chapel services. Working on Principal Call for 2016-2017. Junior High, 5-8 grades, is going to be larger next year, so administration is getting creative with space. New board members are Bethany Petty, Seth Pegram and Elizabeth Jordan.

  • Christian Studies Report given by Heather Kurtz. Dec 20 will be the Sunday School Christmas Program. Sound issues to be handled by Andy Sherrill.

  • Outreach Report given by Janet Laut. 2 new members. 135 coats collected for the Coat Drive, no one came. Sizes 3 mo up to mens 2XL are available. Will be available again during Country Store.

  • Christian Life Report given by Joann Henderson. 2 new members so that makes 10 active members. Working on revising the bylaws section to define responsibilities. Please come help at Country Store. Organizing for the needy Thanksgiving baskets.

  • New Business. Jon Cozean has offered to allocate a section of the Odd Fellows Cemetery for St Paul use. He would even allow for St Paul signage. $400 per plot with a one-time maintenance fee.
