October Minutes 2014-Church Council

Attending:

Ron Rouggly, Kyle McDowell, Pastor King, Heather Hawkins, Jerry Hoeflein, Mary Fitzgerald, Lori Flenner, Jeff Krekeler and Eileen Jones in attendance.

Old Business:

  • Pastor King gave the Pastors Report. September average attendance was 345. 468 at the picnic. Attended a Interpersonal Skills Workshop. Focus on listening skills, fostering relationships, conflict resolution and stress management. Appreciated the opportunity. Will be out to go to volleyball tournament with oldest daughter.

  • Mrs Flenner gave the Principals Report. Projected increase in teacher salaries is $39,000 while the expected increase in tuition is only $27000. There have been a few technology issues but are working to resolve them. Also working on a policy for homeschoolers that want to do something with us. Amended the background check form to include church as well as school.

  • Ron Rouggly gave the Treasurers Report. Financials are low. Amanda Marler resigned to move to Carolina.
    Eileen Jones motioned to have Marler Brockmiller conduct an exit interview to find what we do well and what we need to improve on.
    motion passed.

  • Board of Christian Life represented by Mary Fitzgerald as Carolyn Price resigned as chair.

    Board of Trustees were thanked specifically Todd Smith and Bill Giessing who got the furnace going.

  • CARE Process - Vision Team recommends that we consider the Policy Based Governance Model.
    There are five ministry areas that would have coordinators.
    These areas and the current boards that have similar responsibilities

    Even if other boards dissolve Christian Education and Elders must continue to exist.

  • New Business
    Elders recommend Lee Hagan for District President. William Marler as First Vice-President, and Gary Cooper as the District Convention Representative. Heather Hawkins motioned to accept the slate of officers as presented by Elders, -motion passed.

    December 16, 2014 all boards meet at 6pm. Kyle motioned that Council meet following at 8pm. Mary seconded and motion passed.
