March Minutes 2015- Church Council

Old Business:

  • Mrs. Flenner gave the Principals Report. Enrollment for next year looks strong. School is looking into some of Detective Kurtz recommendations. Invisible Armor $38/square foot which is a film to keep windows together and vandals out.

  • Pastors Report given by Pastor King. Average attendance has been 296. Upcoming events Memorial Service April 6, Stephen’s Ministry Leaders Training April 12-18 and Junior Confirmation April 26 for 16 students.

  • Treasurers Report given by Greg Shinn. Review Income Statement. Working on Bylaws and will call meeting to review for foundation. In Faith is a Thrivent group that helps with development and we will seek their advise. Will address school families that get discount but don’t attend or tithe. Plan to make inquiries about refinancing the school building. Heather Kurtz motioned to empower the Finance Board to renegotiate the loan. Jerry Hoeflein seconded and motion passed. Board also needs to investigate a capital campaign and start with members that didn’t fulfill their original pledge.

  • Board of Education report given by Mark Cook. Call process is started and may take a long time. Looking into a temporary principal.

  • Care Process regarding Congregation Restoration- Ross Gordan and Mike Eaves to Co-chair the stewardship program.
    Vision Team- Sally Shinn, Mark Cook, Mike Kurtz and Doug Pratt working on small groups.

  • Policy Based Governance- Would like to have a small group from the congregation to flesh out the details and bring the congregation into the process.

  • Youth Retreat had 30 youth and 5 adults attend. Had a great time. Micah Parker is a terrific speaker.

  • Conversation started about Sunday School for 4:45 students or moving Rejoice to Sunday. Referred to Elders to evaluate the necessity of 4 worship services.

New Business:

  • Jeff Krekeler is stepping down as chairman. Jerry will begin his term in April 2015. Jeff Krekeler will still lead the action team on Policy Based Governance.
